About this rug
This vintage Afghan wool rug is a pictorial garden design, hand-knotted with a curvilinear central vase-and-medallion motif surrounded by dense floral vines rather than the angular patterning of Caucasian tribal work, closer in spirit to a Persian-style garden carpet. A soft ivory field carries the composition in dusty rose, sage green, light yellow, pale turquoise, and muted red, framed by pastel-toned floral borders. Hand-knotted in Afghanistan from 100% wool, the rug is in excellent vintage condition and measures approximately 6'7" x 10'4", well suited to a large living room or dining space that calls for a romantic, garden-inspired centerpiece.
