How We Describe Our Rugs
Every rug we sell is a single, physical, one-of-a-kind object — not a reproducible product. That means an accurate description matters more here than it would for something mass-produced. Here's exactly how we handle photos, condition, sizing and descriptions.
Photography
Every photo is taken in natural light, with minimal editing — we don't use filters or heavy color correction to make a rug look different from how it actually looks in person. That said, screens vary: monitor and phone calibration, along with natural variation in hand-spun wool and plant dyes, mean the exact shade you see may differ slightly from the rug in hand.
Condition
Each rug is physically inspected before it ships. Vintage and antique pieces (roughly 1920s–1990s) can carry wear, fading, small repairs, or other signs of age — we consider that part of a handwoven rug's character, not a flaw to hide, and we aim to describe it plainly rather than gloss over it.
Sizing
Sizes are measured by hand, edge to edge. Because these are handwoven on traditional looms rather than machine-cut, actual dimensions can vary by an inch or so from the listed size — that's normal for genuine handmade rugs, not a measuring error.
One of a kind, really
When a listing says "only 1 available," we mean it literally: it's the one physical rug in the photos, not a style that gets rewoven to order. Once it sells, that exact rug is gone — we don't restock the same piece.
Where our rugs come from
Our roots are Turkmen, and many of the rugs we sell come from Northern Afghanistan and the surrounding weaving regions, alongside pieces we hand-select from Turkey and Pakistan. Some rug names reference traditional design or pattern styles (for example, a weave pattern associated with a particular region or tribe) — those names describe the design tradition the pattern comes from, which isn't always the same thing as exactly where that individual rug was physically knotted. We're continuing to review our listing titles to make sure that distinction is always clear.
