About this rug

Concentric diamonds ripple outward from the center of this monumental kilim, drawn in serrated bands of terracotta, orange, aubergine and smoke blue — the bold medallion geometry that Afghan Maimana weavers are famous for, here at a rare oversized 10' x 15'10" (305 x 485 cm). Handwoven entirely in flatweave technique, it has no pile: the surface is smooth, tightly packed and extremely durable, well suited to dining rooms, living rooms and other hard-working spaces. Hooked guard borders and star-filled outer bands frame the field on every side. Vibrant but earthy, the terracotta palette warms both modern and traditional rooms. A vintage, one-of-a-kind piece — kilims this large seldom survive together in one weaving.
