About this rug
This is the celebrated garden-panel design — known in Persian weaving as the Bakhtiari kheshti and called Char Fasal, "Four Seasons," by the weavers who made it. The field is divided into a grid of thirty compartments, each holding its own miniature scene: trees of life, flowering shrubs, botehs, vases and prayer-arch panels, no two alike. A rose-pink border of palmettes and vines wraps the whole garden. Hand-knotted in the 1980s in Khamyab village, Afghanistan, from 100% wool, it measures 9'5" x 12'5" (287 x 378 cm) and remains in excellent condition. The soft pink, ivory, navy, red, gold and green palette suits classic, bohemian and contemporary rooms alike — a genuine collector's design in an oversized format.
