About this rug

A long ivory-edged hexagon stretches nearly the full length of this red field, holding a small serrated diamond at its very center — the layout made famous by the weavers of Abadeh in southern Persia, who compressed Qashqai tribal drawing into crisp, city-rug order. Navy corner spandrels bloom with rosettes, and the field inside the hexagon is sprinkled with tiny flowers and tribal marks. Hand-knotted in Afghanistan with a soft, luxurious pile, the rug measures 6'6" x 9'9" (200 x 298 cm) in rich red, navy and ivory. Durable enough for a living room or hallway and handsome enough to anchor a study, it is a vintage one-of-a-kind piece in very good condition.
