About this rug

This 3'8" x 10'2" vintage runner was hand-knotted in Afghanistan in a Persian-style Hamadan design, the kind of narrow tribal weaving made to run the length of a hall. Down the deep-red field marches a column of three serrated pole medallions in ivory, navy and gold, surrounded by a dense scatter of small hooked motifs and blossoms. A midnight-blue border carries a procession of paisley botehs, edged by reciprocal running-dog guard stripes. The palette — glowing red against dark blue with ivory highlights — reads warm and lived-in rather than formal. Tightly knotted from hardwearing wool, it is built for a corridor, entry, or the space beside a bed or counter. One of a kind, with a single piece available.
