About this rug
Flatweaves from the 1920s rarely survive in condition this good. This antique Afghan Baluchi kilim carries its geometric patterning in red, orange, ivory and green — color laid down band by band on the loom, with no pile at all, in the practical tradition Baluchi weavers perfected. Kilims of this era were made to be used: tightly woven, easy to care for, and better in high-traffic spots than most modern rugs will ever be.
At 4'4" x 6'4" (132 x 193 cm), it suits a living room, bedroom or hallway — or a wall, where a collector piece of this age arguably belongs. A century old and still working.
