About this rug
Palace rugs of this scale almost never survive a century intact — this one has. Woven in the 1920s by Turkmen masters, this 9'6" x 23'1" (290 x 701 cm) Bukhara carpet carries the classic Ayna gul design across a field of deep red, anchored by black, ivory and warm earth tones. At more than twenty-three feet long, it was made for a grand hall, and it still commands one.
The wool remains dense and vibrant after a hundred years, a sign of both superb materials and careful keeping. Condition is excellent for its age, with strong pile and vivid, unfaded color throughout.
A genuine investment piece: oversized antique Turkmen rugs in this state of preservation are among the rarest finds in the market. Suited to formal living rooms, galleries, hotel lobbies, or any space with the proportions to let it breathe.
