Hand-knotted in the 1960s by Turkmen weavers in Afghanistan, this large wool rug displays the classic elephant-foot gul design: three rows of large octagonal medallions marching down a deep red field, each filled with fine geometric detailing in black and cream. Narrow secondary border bands frame the field, finishing in the tight, repetitive rhythm that defines Turkmen Bukhara weaving. Made with a soft wool pile on a cotton foundation and professionally cleaned, it measures approximately 7.5 x 11.7 ft, generous enough for a large living room.
