About this rug

Three ivory serrated medallions run in a pole down the center of a great stepped diamond — the signature layout of Qashqai tribal weaving from southern Persia, reproduced here with real conviction. The deep madder-red field is sown with tiny flowers, stars and animal figures, ivory spandrels hold rounded corner medallions, and a run of narrow borders in red, ivory, black and orange closes the composition. Hand-knotted in Turkey in the 1950s, this 7'2" x 10'5" (218 x 317 cm) wool rug is in good condition with only minimal signs of use for its age. A rare, characterful piece for a living room, dining room or collection — antique tribal drawing at a very livable size.
