This antique rug, hand-knotted with natural wool in the 1960s in Herat, Northern Afghanistan, is drawn in a classic Persian-style Herati design. A deep navy field is packed edge to edge with the repeating Herati 'fish' pattern — tiny rosettes flanked by curved leaves — around a red anchor-shaped central medallion with matching spandrels at the corners. Multiple narrow borders in red and ivory frame the composition the way old village weavers intended: dense, orderly, endlessly detailed. The Ghazni wool on a cotton foundation was dyed with vegetable dyes, giving muted, glowing color. Approx. 4.7 x 7.7 ft, one of a kind, with free worldwide shipping and 14-day returns.
