About this rug

Big, colourful boteh - the curved paisley 'seed' motif - march in offset rows across the ivory ground of this vintage hand-knotted rug, each one filled with tiny blossoms in red, gold, teal and green. A deep indigo main border carries a matching procession of large botehs and rosettes, framing the field in rich contrast. This bold all-over boteh (paisley) design has its roots in Persian-style village weaving and gives the small rug an outsized, joyful presence. The wool pile is soft underfoot with the mellow character of age. At about 4 by 5 feet it is an ideal accent for an entry, bedside or reading corner. A genuine one-of-a-kind piece.
