Handwoven vintage Afghan kilim with a striking open ivory/cream field featuring a loose all-over lattice of elongated oval/eye-shaped boteh motifs connected by thin hooked stems — each oval in a different color: burgundy, navy, peach, olive, brown & blue — scattered across the bright open ground with elegant restraint. Wide burgundy/red inner border with navy blue outer band densely packed with multicolor geometric cross & diamond chain on all sides.
Flat weft-faced weave, wool on wool, fringed ends. The bright open ivory field with sparse multicolor oval lattice gives this kilim an unusually light, airy and contemporary quality — quite distinct from the dense all-over Senneh pieces.
