Hand-knotted in Turkey around the early 1900s, this 4'1" x 6'1" antique wool rug is drawn in a curvilinear Persian-style Tabriz design — a soft camel-gold field of scrolling vines, palmettes and blossoms in terracotta with touches of navy, framed by a series of finely drawn floral borders. Age has worn the pile down to an even, no-pile distressed surface, leaving the pattern visible like a faded fresco; the effect is quiet, warm, and very much in fashion. Because there is little pile to crush, it works well in kitchens, entries, or any spot that gets real use. An honest antique with slight fading and distressing throughout.
