Woven in Mazar in the Khal Mohammadi tradition, this rug sets six navy octagonal Beljik gul medallions in vertical pairs across a deep madder-red field, with tree-of-life and candelabra motifs rising between them in ivory and warm rust. A curling meander border and a row of rosettes frame the field, finished with clean ivory fringe at both ends. The saturated red reads warm and bold across a room, while the tight tribal detailing holds up close. Being hand-woven, small shifts in the pattern and color are part of the character of the piece.
The pile is hand-spun wool on a cotton foundation, hand-knotted in the durable Afghan double-knot technique. The pile is full and even, which makes it hard-wearing and easy to care for, and a strong fit for living rooms, bedrooms, entryways, and offices. It lies flat, takes a rug pad well on hard floors, and wears in beautifully over time. Colors may look slightly different depending on your screen and room light.
