About this rug
A 1960s Afghan Bokhara rug in warm terracotta and chocolate brown, its field filled with rows of elephant-foot medallions in a timeless tribal design.
Rows of bold octagonal medallions march across the field in deep chocolate brown against a warm camel-terracotta ground, each one quartered with small geometric motifs and separated by tiny diamond florets. A wide, multi-band border of hooked lattice work and fine sawtooth stripes frames the piece, all in the same rich earth-tone palette that has mellowed beautifully with age.
Hand-knotted in Afghanistan from hand-spun wool, it has the dense, durable pile built to soften and improve with decades more wear. The neutral, earthy palette makes it an easy fit for a living room, dining room, or bedroom that wants warmth and pattern without overwhelming the space.
