About this rug

A chain of bold hooked medallions marches down this extra-wide runner, drawn in deep indigo against brick red — a design language borrowed straight from Caucasian tribal weaving, with the field scattered in small stars, blossoms and animal-like figures the way the old Kazak weavers liked it. This authentic vintage Afghan kilim was handwoven entirely by hand in flatweave technique: no pile, so it stays lightweight, reversible and practical in high-traffic spaces. At 13'3" x 5'1" it is far wider than a standard runner, enough to furnish a generous hallway, entry or the foot of a bed on its own. Deep reds and blues balance warm earth tones and ivory highlights. One of a kind, in strong vintage condition.
