Herat weavers have produced fine interpretations of Persian city carpets for generations, and this 9'6" x 12'8" (290 x 381 cm) piece is a strong example: a Kashan-style diamond medallion with an ivory core, floating on a red field packed edge to edge with flowering vines, all held by deep navy palmette borders. Hand-knotted in the 1990s in Herat, Afghanistan, from 100% wool, it has a soft pile and arrives professionally cleaned, in perfect ready-to-use condition. The warm reds, ivory, brown and earth tones give it the presence of a much older carpet. A large-format, collector-quality rug for a living room, dining room or study.
