A magnificent and intricately detailed vintage hand-woven wool kilim runner in a deep, jewel-toned palette of burgundy red, forest green, dark navy, and ivory. The long field is structured around a dense all-over vertical and horizontal grid — continuous ivory lines run the full length of the runner forming a central spine, flanked on both sides by a rich succession of geometric bands each carrying a distinct embroidered motif.
Every band is different — repeating rows of hooked diamonds, stepped lozenges, arrow forms, cross elements, small medallions, and intricate geometric snowflakes fill each stripe with a different pattern, creating an endlessly varied surface that tells a story from one end to the other. Bold deep teal and forest green bands punctuate the burgundy red ground at intervals, adding dramatic depth and colour contrast to the composition. The ivory central spine links everything together with architectural precision.
The side borders are densely packed with a continuous geometric hook and scroll repeat in ivory and green, framing the field cleanly on both long sides.
