About this rug
This is a vintage Afghan Baluch rug, hand-knotted in the classic tribal style of the Baluch people of Afghanistan. The entire field is covered in a dense allover pattern of interlocking eight-pointed stars and hooked geometric connectors, all woven in deep crimson red and burgundy on a near-black navy ground. The repeat is tight and rhythmic, creating a bold, almost hypnotic visual effect across the field. A few orange accent squares appear toward the lower section, adding a subtle spark of contrast. The border system features an ivory ground with repeating star medallions on the main border, framed by narrow red geometric guard stripes.
Hand-knotted from wool on a wool foundation, this rug has a medium pile with a dense, firm feel typical of Baluch tribal weaving. The dark palette and all-over geometric repeat make it a striking and versatile piece that works equally well in a traditional, modern, or industrial interior. At 4'4×8'2 ft it is well suited as a living room rug, hallway runner, or bold bedroom centerpiece.
