The crimson red field has softened over time into a rich range of tones — deeper red at the top shading gradually into a warmer, lighter red towards the bottom — a natural aging effect known as abrash that is highly prized in tribal rug collecting and impossible to replicate artificially.
The field is filled with an all-over repeat of small geometric cross and pinwheel motifs in sage green and dark brown, arranged in a loose diagonal grid and connected by a continuous running meander and stepped key pattern in dark brown that weaves between them across the entire surface. The composition has no central medallion — just pure, rhythmic geometric repetition from edge to edge, calm and meditative in its consistency.
The border carries a bold repeating row of large eight-pointed star rosettes in ivory, orange, red, and sage green on a dark brown ground — vivid and punchy against the faded red field, adding a welcome burst of color contrast at the edges.
